Repairs

As a professional brass repairer, John Ravenor is able to repair and restore brass instruments from piccolo cornets to tubas. Instruments come into his workshop needing repair as the result of wear and tear or after incidents which include:

Car accidents – shunts are sadly common and instruments are often in car boots
Severe neglect – stuck slides, corroded valves
Bent instruments – “Just slipped out of my hand/ fell down the stairs/got knocked”
and even…Bomb Blast Damage

John trained professionally as a brass repairer, serving a 5 year apprenticeship with Boosey & Hawkes in Aldershot. He regularly creates bespoke slides, mouthpieces and other items for clients.

Before his retirement John was a member and a Professional Associate of the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairers.
